There are thousands overflowing with stories—but starved of opportunity. Places where resources are scarce, where trauma can be common, and where creative dreams often go unheard.

At Slingshot Labs, we serve underrepresented youth — helping turn their lived experiences into powerful storytelling. Showing them that they matter.

We create a safe space where young people, ages 15 to 21, can process their world through creativity, develop real production & business skills to go out and create a better life for themselves and their families. We don’t just teach film—we nurture storytellers with purpose, vision, and the power to change their futures.

why now.

South Africa’s youth are full of untapped potential—but systemic inequality continues to block their path.

• Over 80% of learners attend under-resourced public schools; many lack internet, computers, or creative arts programs.

• For some, the only daily meal is provided at school—making afterschool programming not just enriching, but essential.

• Youth unemployment for ages 15–24 sits at over 62%, the highest in years [eduempower.co.za]

• Despite this, young people are hungry to learn, create, and be seen—but they need a space where that’s possible.

Many young people from under-resourced communities in South Africa will never step onto a professional set—unless we build that bridge. Slingshot Labs is that bridge.

We work with youth from areas shaped by poverty, inequality, and generational barriers—young people too often excluded from the creative economy. We don’t ask for perfect grades, fancy gear, or connections—just passion, grit, and a story worth telling.

Because when you invest in someone who's never been given a shot, you help shift the entire narrative.

Our long-term goal is to build Slingshot Studios—a permanent creative hub that not only will allow for our clients or you to shoot at, it will:

• 🎥 House Slingshot Labs, offering professional equipment, edit suites, and production space.

• 🌱 Be a safe, supportive space where youth can explore their potential beyond school hours

• 🍛 Provide an afterschool meal—because for many of our youth, the school lunch is their only meal of the day

• 💬 Offer mentorship, mental health check-ins, and real career guidance

• 🌍 Bridge the gap between township creativity and global opportunity

This studio won’t just make films.It will nurture futures, nourish bodies, and transform communities—one young storyteller at a time.
